Gosh I love that image.
When we asked ourselves what we wanted to do this year, we went through a lot of ideas.
We talked about doing another from the same series as the one last year, “The Wedding of Snow White.” I have one I’d like to get to, also by Shifting Forest, about people trapped in a room who’ve been abducted by nuclear terrorists. The idea was rejected, mostly because we weren’t totally in love with it, but also because in the current political climate any mention of such things can be dicey.
So we asked ourselves, “What would we love to do?” We talked about a LARP based on the “Alien” movie series, what with the new movie coming out and us both being big fans. We considered a few other options that never even came as far as that, barely-formed concepts left on the cutting room floor.
Eventually we hit on the idea of a Tzimisce LARP. We both love the World of Darkness, and we’ve done single-clan games before. Our Tremere LARP years ago may not have been our best attended, but everyone sure had a good time. It occurred to us that it could fit well into the “boutique” style of game we’ve been wanting to run lately. Less of the long-running, multi-layered, complex LARPs that some of us have been to (and still go to) that last for years because every night builds on the story. More like a Primogen Council meeting allowed to run its course, allowed to take some time rather than cut short by the demands of a pressing story. A small group of powerful, big names get together in a room for a reason.
The next logical question was, “What’s the reason?” Well, I won’t claim anything lofty. We’re both pretty liberal and this struck us as hilarious. As we started researching we found unsettling parallels between the Commander-in-Chief and the World of Darkness’s version of Vlad the Impaler, the Dracul, Lord Dracula the thrice-damned. And we knew we had a hit.
I hope you’ll take a look at the characters we have on offer, and the brief plot/setting teaser we’ve got up over under “Current Productions.” I hope that when time comes to register, you’ll consider seeing what we’ve cooked up. If the Camarilla is a cauldron in which the Antediluvians plan to cook a bloody stew, “Make Vicissitude Great Again!” should be a chance to drain that swamp.
